Foundation Repair and Basement Waterproofing in Winnipeg
Cracked walls, a bowing basement, doors that stopped closing square. Winnipeg Foundation Experts assesses what the clay is doing under your house and tells you what it actually needs.

Who we are
About Winnipeg Foundation Experts
Winnipeg Foundation Experts repairs and stabilises foundations across the city. Cracks, leaks, settlement, bowing walls, and the drainage problems that cause them.
Winnipeg sits on some of the most reactive clay in North America. It swells when it is wet and shrinks when it is dry, and it moves houses. We start by working out which way yours is moving and why, then quote the repair that addresses the cause.

We diagnose before we quote
A crack is a symptom. We look at drainage, grade, tree cover, and the crack pattern itself before recommending anything, because the wrong repair on a moving foundation fails twice.
Built for Red River clay
Winnipeg soil swells and shrinks through the season and drives frost heave every winter. We size piles and specify repairs for ground that moves, not for stable soil.
A written scope, not a verbal number
You get the work, the method, and the price in writing before anything starts. If we do not think a repair is warranted yet, we will tell you that too.
Where we work
Serving Winnipeg and the Surrounding Communities
We work across Winnipeg and out into the surrounding municipalities. Soil conditions change noticeably between the river corridors and the outlying communities, and the repair that suits one does not always suit the other. Find your area below.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do so many Winnipeg foundations crack?
Winnipeg is built on lacustrine clay from the bed of glacial Lake Agassiz. That clay expands when it takes on water and contracts when it dries out, so the ground under a house rises and falls through the year. Add frost that drives well below footing depth each winter and most local foundations see real movement at some point.
Is every foundation crack a structural problem?
No. Thin vertical cracks in a poured wall are common and are usually a shrinkage or moisture issue rather than a structural one. Horizontal cracks, stair-step cracking in block, and cracks that widen at one end are the ones worth looking at quickly, because they suggest the wall is being loaded or the footing is moving.
What does a foundation assessment involve?
We look at the crack pattern inside and out, check whether the floor and door frames are still square, and walk the exterior for grade, downspout discharge, and where water is actually going. The assessment is free and you get our findings whether or not you hire us.
Can foundation work be done in winter?
Interior work such as crack injection and interior weeping tile can be done year-round. Exterior excavation depends on frost depth and site access, and there are stretches of a Winnipeg winter when it is not practical. We will tell you honestly whether your job should wait for spring.
